(Naseer Ahmed, Abbottabad)
If ALLAH wills to give respect, wealth, and health to someone he will make a way. KAGHAN and NARAAN is a popular hill station which people visit during vacations. It is a very beautiful place, few miles above it is a very beautiful lake called SAIF AL MALUK from which river KUNHAR emerges. Trout fish is common in this river. There was a person in NARAN about whom it was popular that he is 120 years old, apparently he used to look 70, 80 years of age. He had three sons who used to look old. He was very healthy. Taking care of animals, doing the household work, working in the fields and bringing woods from the forest were among his routine tasks. It was difficult for me to believe that how can a man of this age be so healthy. Once I made him sit beside me and asked him that is he really 120 years old? To which he replied that it is absolutely true. He showed me his newly emerged teeth and hair which again started to become black. I asked him in surprise that what you eat. Any particular herb or medicine that you use so that you look so young. He said that my sons have destroyed their health themselves. He said that I never drank tea in my life while my sons drink tea in routine. He said that I eat ROTI made of MAKI with yogurt and milk daily, I do not take meal at day time. It is my habit from childhood that I cook spinach or pumpkin in LASI and add butter in it; I cook pulses and potato in the same manner. There is a secret of my youth and that is that once when I was young I used to visit BALAKOT which was quiet far with my father, we used to bring flour, rice and brown sugar (GUR in Urdu) from there. Once my father was busy somewhere else so I went to bring flour alone. I reached the shop of the person from where I used to buy flour, when I reached there I saw that he was standing in a ground and was announcing that whoever will eat this 2kg fresh mustard oil I will give him 5 rupees reward. 5 rupees was a big amount in those days. Mustard oil was in a silver utensil and 5 rupees were placed beside it. Many people were gathered around him. I asked him that is this bet only for shopkeepers to which he replied that it is for all, if you can drink it then I will give you the reward. I asked him to give me bag of flour and brown sugar first. He gave me and I placed the bag on a wall. Everybody was saying that nobody can drink too much oil, whoever will drink it will die. I didn’t pay heed to anything. I placed the utensil over my mouth, drank the whole in three breathes, quickly got up, took 5 rupees, placed bags over my shoulder and began to walk quickly. From BALAKOT to KAGHAN it is all height. I started feeling nausea due to which I began to eat brown sugar. I started sweating after walking one mile. I started sweating hard as I covered more distance; my clothes were all wet with sweat. I started feeling thirsty but didn’t drunk water. At MIANDRI I rested for 10 minutes. I had fear in my heart that if my body becomes cold know then I will be paralyzed forever. I got up quickly, took slow steps and reached KAGHAN. Night had fallen; I sat there for few minutes and headed for home. I reached home within 3, 4 hours. I was awfully thirsty but was not hungry at all. I narrated the whole incident to my mother. She scolded me first and then made me lie on a bed and gave me warm milk.
